DECADE OF WOMEN ANNOUNCES $300,000 YEAR-END MATCH GRANT FOR CHARITY: WATER

Campaign To Bring Access to Clean Water to Women and Girls in Rwanda

New York, NY - December 26, 2018. As part of the Decade Of Women campaign launched at the United Nations on International Day of Women earlier this year, campaign organizers have announced a US $300,000 year-end matching grant to benefit women and girls through the work of charity: water.

charity: water has become a global leader in the quest to provide access to clean water. Lack of access disproportionately impacts women and girls, as they are the ones who typically retrieve water (often dirty and often miles away) for their families.

"We believe water changes everything, especially for women and girls,” said Scott Harrison founder and CEO of charity: water. "Access to clean water means more time, greater opportunity and improved health for women and girls around the world."

The match donation was directed through 5th Element Group PBC as part of its "Solver" campaigns addressing the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Funding support was provided by Semnani Family Foundation, in connection with the work of the SDG Impact Fund. This year's campaigns all involve projects that uplift women and girls and bring attention to key initiatives in the effort to help.

"charity:water connects individual donors with the impact of their donations better than any other NGO in the world," said 5th Element Group founder and President, Jim Van Eerden.  “They also commit to deploying 100% of all donations to the work in the field, and these two principles encourage more micro-donor participation in their life-giving efforts to get clean water to more people.”

5th Element Group launched the Decade Of Women campaign to highlight the importance of women in leadership, especially as relating to the development and deployment of frontier tech, in the global effort to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

The Decade Of Women is challenging women and girls around the world to follow the charity: water cause, and share the stories of struggle and triumph in any social media format using the hashtag #WomenRising. Additionally, every dollar donated will be matched, up to a total goal of $600,000. Learn more about the campaign here:  [www.charitywater.org]

DECADE OF WOMEN ANNOUNCES YEAR-END MATCH GRANTS FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS

Inspired by 2018 Nobel Laureate Nadia Murad, $1M Grant Campaign Announced
For Free Yezidi Foundation and charity: water

Reykjavik, Iceland - December 17, 2018. As part of the Decade Of Women Forum this week in Iceland, 5th Element Group PBC and its partner Solver announced a US $1 million year-end matching grant campaign to benefit women and girls.

The first non-profit partner selected for the matching funds award is the Free Yezidi Foundation, founded by Pari Ibrahim, which is responding to the brutal genocide of the Yezidi community by ISIS through a variety of strategic support initiatives for women and children, from psychological services to computer skills training, that help these victims re-enter society.

The announcement was inspired by the story of courageous vulnerability told to the world by 2018 Nobel Laureate Nadia Murad, who was made a sex slave by ISIS but escaped and then spoke out to help end the outrage of sexual violence as a weapon of war, and to secure freedom and basic rights for the Yezidi people.

"Nadia and Pari both remind us that the fight for any cause like this is about a fight for communities, and for the dignity of individual people," said 5th Element President Jim Van Eerden. "The Yezidi people are emblematic of people in captivity, people neglected, all around the world."

The second non-profit recipient is charity: water, which has become a global leader in the quest to provide access to clean water. Lack of access disproportionately impacts women and girls, as they are the ones who typically retrieve water (often dirty and often miles away) for their families.

"We're excited that our funding will help scale charity: water’s successful clean water solution in the Rulindo District to the Gicumbi District in Rwanda and beyond,” said Solver Co-founder Bobby Kia.

The match donation was directed through 5th Element Group PBC and its partner Solver to address the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. Funding support was provided by Semnani Family Foundation, in connection with the work of the SDG Impact Fund. This year's campaigns all involve projects that uplift women and girls and bring attention to key aspects of the effort to help.

In addition to the match funding opportunity, the campaign includes a social media Call to Action to share videos from both Yezidi women leaders as well as Rwandan women leaders who the campaign will be impacting. The Decade Of Women is challenging women and girls around the world to follow these causes, and share the stories of struggle and triumph in any format using hashtag #womenrising.

DECADE OF WOMEN SELECTS LAILA BOKHARI FOR QUANTUM IMPACT AWARD

Bokhari Cited for Modeling and Exponentiating Gender Equity for the Decade Of Women

iCrowdNewswire - May 17, 2018

Oslo, Norway —  The Decade Of Women — a worldwide solutions campaign dedicated to completing the Equity Revolution — continues to announce recipients for its Quantum Impact Awards, sponsored by 5th Element Group, naming Laila Bokhari today.  Profiles as well as interview remarks from Bokhari have been released at DecadeOfWomen.org today.

Laila Bokhari is the former State Secretary and Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Norway. Before becoming a politician, Bokhari had a long career as a researcher on security policy, counter terrorism and religious and political extremism at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (Nupi), the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), and King’s College, London, among other institutions of note.

As part of the Decade Of Women, the Quantum Impact Awards were created to honor those who show extraordinary heart for full gender equity and have gone to great lengths to use their influence to make meaningful change. The Quantum Impact Award is made of beautiful, age-old lava from Iceland, in recognition of the fact that Iceland has been declared the leading nation for gender equity for the past nine years.

“What an incredible honour and responsibility,” Bokhari said.  “I think of all the remarkable women (and men!) whose shoulders I stand on – the many who have fought the fights for us, who have helped carve out the way for us – and remind myself what a responsibility it is for all of us to carry on the work. To continue to see and raise the voice of young women globally so we as a society as a whole can get the best out of our potential!”

“Even if the Nordic countries have come a long way and are among the most egalitarian societies, we still see glass ceilings,” Bokhari continued. “It is important to work together – for both women and men – to find solutions, and at the same time remember that this is a global target as so powerfully agreed upon by our leaders through the SDGs. Leadership is about using the platform you have been given and your voice to look for solutions for better futures, and to help others reach their platforms to use their voices.”

Laila Bokhari is pursuing a mission that the Decade Of Women community is proud and humbled to support and work alongside. Collaborations are anticipated throughout the next decade and beyond.

The Decade Of Women campaign is distinct in focusing on levering the vital power of frontier technologies across blockchain and digital assets to at last achieve economic engagement and financial independence of all women.
